Joel Gluck - Jewish Art
Born in 1983, and descended from a European Hasidic lineage noted for its artists, Joel Gluck paints scenes from Jewish life in the past and present. He began drawing as a child, and went on to study with outstanding contemporary American artists, including Max Ginsburg and Paul McCormack,
His art depicts the people and practices of the shtetl, and is infused with his love and daily experience performing the same rituals today. The work reflects the beauty and tranquility of the spiritual, set in inspiring landscapes, interiors, and alleys of the old world.
The images glow with deep and luminescent color, bringing scenes to life in an extension of realism. Past and present, physical and spiritual, merge in his paintings. Feelings from antiquity flow to the present, connecting the viewer to the wealth and depth of his ancient heritage,
